Leonardo da Vinci is a collaboration programme of the European Union in the field of vocational education started in 1994. It supports innovative international initiatives for promoting the knowledge, aptitudes and skills necessary for successful integration into working life. Its aim is to use international cooperation to enhance quality, promote innovation and support the European dimension of vocational training systems and practices. This programme, adopted for a period of five years (1995-1999) had a key objective of supporting the development of policies and innovative action by promoting projects in the context of international partnerships which involve different organisations with an interest in training. The second phase of the Leonardo da Vinci programme (2000-2006) supports international co-operation projects in the field of vocational training.
From 2007 the Socrates and Leonardo da Vinci programme has been contracted and continues as Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) in renewed way.
